Antirrhinum or Snapdragons as they are more commonly known, are a simple and easy plant to grow. The majority are annuals, these are the ones that can be seen with all the bedding plants in the garden centers. Cheap to buy and easy to look after in this form. Plant them and watch them grow. In some milder climates they will over winter and flower again the next year. Most however are annual cultivars, but some will be perennials so just check the variety out in a quick internet search to find out. As soon as the flowers have finished dead head to prolong the flowering season.
The foliage is similar as below on most of the snapdragons that are likely to be seen in your local garden center, If growing from seed there will always be a single stalk that begins the grow, once the small plant is around 3 to 4 inches tall, cut the top out just above a set of the leaves, this will force the plant to produce side shoots, this will then result in more flowers.
