Foxglove in the Springtime. Another beautiful and simple plant to grow, remember they are biennial and will just stay in the green the first year and then flower the second. Please do not go to the garden center and pay silly money to buy them. Just buy some seeds and sprinkle in the garden, you will get more plants and not pay over the odds. Again more details are in the A-Z guide.
Centaurea Montana is an extremely easy plant to grow, like most from the Knapweed family. Although it can be very invasive and spread very easily. As long as it is kept under control it is a beautiful addition to the garden. More details about Montana can be found under the A-Z section. I have a few well established clumps and they always try to spread around the garden. The plus side of Montana is once flowering has finished cut them back to the ground and Montana will flower again before the season is out. So what are you waiting for? get some into the garden. Montana will be okay in areas that some other plants will not grow. I have a clump in full sun and one in partial shade and they are both doing just fine.
Dutch Iris (Iris hollandica) although it seems that most people do not like this variety, preferring the Bearded variety which also flowers in early summer. The big difference is that Dutch Iris are bulbs and have no rhizomes like the bearded version. The bulbs will eventually spread but it takes time, they are quite tall around 15-18cm tall compared to the spring flowering bulbs which are very short, 5-6cm tall
My name is Jonathan and I enjoy working in my garden in my spare time. I am no professional, just an amateur. My second love is photography, shooting the flowers in my garden and of course sharing them with people who share my passions.
