Wasps... what more do I need to say about these pesky critters. Stinging, eating soft fruits before you have the chance to and generally causing bother to us. Or are they? maybe the just have a bad reputation as they do do lots of good things too. They pollinate plants which is important because without that we would be in trouble as there would be no fruits on the trees and vegetables in the fields.
Of course you can protect yourself and fruits from them, cover you precious Raspberries and Strawberries with a net and any signs of a nest deal with quickly before they take hold. Just remember if you need to dispose of a nest make sure you know what your doing or get a professional to come and do it for you. If you do try on your own make sure it is not Bee's. Destroying Bee's is against the law as they are protected.
Generally wasps tend to get nasty in the Autumn as before this they are working to collect the food they need for the nest. After this wasp's tend to get a little grumpy and mean. That's the time they tend to sting.
So to recap. To live with wasp's cover your soft fruits with a net towards mid summer and leave them alone in the Autumn. Check for nests and you will do just fine with these pesky critters.
