So the last few weeks have been really warm and sunny, it has been perfect for growing seeds, by now we should have most seeds in. I have just potted on some Snapdragons and Salvia today. So what do we need to do this week in particular,
Dead heading Spring flowering bulbs as needed, Daffodils and Tulips as they fade, Take cuttings from perennials, like Lupin, Delphinium and Campanula. Split mature clumps of perennials, like Day Lilliy, Hosta and Aster, in fact any clumps of perennials that have more than a few years of growth, will benefit from being split, replant into other areas of the garden or swap with friends. Check Roses for aphids, the best way to remove them is to just rub them off. Rather than using a spray. Protect Dephinium, Hosta, in fact any plants tender new shoots from slug and snails, there are plenty of natural remedies for this rather than pellets. Hedgehogs are now starting to emerge from hibernation so please do not allow then to be poisoned. I personally use crushed shells and they work just fine. Clean out your garden shed, tidy up, organise, sweep out and generally have a good sort out, I did mine this week and now i know where everything is. Well that should keep you busy this week, remember to have fun when doing whatever you do in the garden.
