Another day in the garden today, the winter is upon us and finally I can say that the garden is ready for the months ahead. The last few plants have been cut back and the ground dug over
As you can see the area has transformed, when digging the ground over i had to be careful not to damage the bulbs growing just under the surface of the soil, leaving it so late to do the garden does have its problems.
This was the last part of the garden that needed to be cleared, as you can see this section needs a lot of work to make it look the way it should, most of the plants have fallen over because they were not pinned up properly when they started to grow.
The picture below shows how it should look after it has all been cut back and the soil being dug over, at the back the Campion has been removed as it had seeded and there was 50 little Campion's all trying to take over the world. There is still some there at the back but I want to limit it a little more. The Penstemon needs to be tidied up, thats work for another day.
Above it looks a little bare now it has all been cut back, Just the Arum that's still in full growth, The Sedam, Veronica and all the others cut down to the ground and ready for next year. I have more plants to fill the gaps and next year I will make sure I tie everything back properly to ensure it doesn't look such a mess. Garden's take time and do need attention.
