Knautia is a great addition the the summer garden, easy to grow and takes little attention through the year. The plant itself is a hardy perennial and will come back each year. At the start of the growing season it Knautia may need some kind of support to keep it upright during the flowering time. Dead heading will not prolong the flowering as it flowers with the amount of flowers it will have on long stems that grow from the base of the plant. After the flowers have finished the stems can be cut right back to the base once the base of the plant has started to sprout some leaves. Once that is done the plant is ready to over winter.
